360 controllers are USB right? And 360 is microsoft right? I have not had the chance to try it but have been told yes it works. The computer will see it plugged into the usb and plug n play software install will start. when you start mame you can start a game and press the TAB button to open the options box. Now click the games control setup and MAP the controller.

You have to by a gaming receiver (for a wireless controller) which is about 20 bucks.

Any controller that is compatible with Windows can be used with MAME. Google ';easyemu'; for a handy guide.
