Can custom LEDs in an xbox 360 controller be detected? if so is there a penalty?
i just bought some LEDs for the A X Y B buttons, the guide ring, guide button, and start and select. i was just reading up on how rapid fire is detectable and you can get banned from xbox live if you get caught. i just want to know before i mod the controller if there is a risk when installing LEDs.

It may not support it at all, I use a mouse and keyboard on Vegas so I haven't tried it but some games just don't whilst some recognise and map my 360 wireless pad automatically. You can force it to with an app like ControlMK but the results are sometimes hit and miss. You also need to set the pad up properly with the Microsoft software that came with it: it needs to be running. Surprisingly you shouldn't have a problem with the standard 360 pad. But really you're much better using a mouse and keyboard on the PC version or you'll get hammered online.

You DO need to know the 360 degree circle cold, and you better be able to do those simple math problems quickly, but most controllers simply round off for speed restrictions (for example), no need to tell someone to go 44 knots slower than another plane.
As far as determining conflictions by looking at speed and heading--this is simply something you get a feel for in training. You can't bust out a calculator to give pilots a turn. When dealing with altitudes, everyone who's IFR is at least 1000 feet apart, 2000 feet above 29,000 feet. Not rocket science.

Good to open PS3 controller to get rid of problem?
Accidentally dropped my PS3 controller one day when a phone ring made me jump. The is a little piece of the controller that is stuck and I want to get rid of it. When you shake the controller, the little piece travels from one end to another and when I play a game like NHL, the broken piece sometimes gets stuck at the R2 button and so it makes the players pass or switch to other players without me doing anything.

I have recently been playing Halo with an Xbox 360 controller. It works wonderfully. You should try it! Funny that I have that controller and no Xbox 360.
The controller requires drivers that can be downloaded from Microsoft's website. If you already have the controller, you still might want to consider checking this link out, as I have noticed that the drivers have been updated.

Yes it will work, but you will need to download the driver for that USB controller. I believe Sony has it on their website or you can download via 3rd party google search.
For the GTA game, it should automatically set your button configuration to the Playstation 2 defaults, once your have it enabled on the game options menu.

There most certainly is! It's a combination of the SNES and the N64 controllers. Any respectable game store should be able to sell it to you.

Honestly, if you hate using the remote as a pointing device, unless there's games you're dying to play on the Wii and can get past the control schemes, you're better off getting a different system. There's no good global substitute for the remote that'll work on all games.

Do not believe that last answer. Converting a ps2 controller to usb is a bit more complicated than that. For one thing usb is 5v and the dualshock uses at least 9v. The impulses sent through the dualshock's wires are also meant to be run through the interface that plugs into the console, if those go into a usb connection instead, it will be all garbled. It has to get to the interface first, before being converted to usb. A dualshock to usb converter costs about $15.
Dualshock to usb-converters, or usb-to-dualshock converters, have nothing to do with linux being installable on ps2, either. Sony made the ps2 version of linux themselves, and sold it along with a usb keyboard-and-mouse setup. There is no linux distro that can be installed without first using Sony's install, which creates a ';run time environment'; without which nothing can be installed. The ps2 isn't much use as a computer besides being a game machine, Sony was basically allowing people to make their own games.
The ps2 being a ';computer'; has no bearing on the controller being compatible with another computer. The data from the dualshock is in a proprietary format and must be received and interpreted by the controller port in the ps2 to make any sense to the hardware. You would have to take out the controller ports, and try to make an adapter out of them. I doubt you would want to do that, if it would even work.

What is the Air Traffic Controller Job Process?
Currently my boyfriend is going to CCBC to become an air traffic controller. He should graduate in the spring of 2010. I know that when he graduates he will have to go to Oklahoma City, but when? Also- when does he apply for jobs and how does that work? We are from Pittsburgh and would like to stay somewhere around the area, so how difficult will that be? And finally when he starts his job how much will he be making? I've heard anywhere from 17,000 to 50,000 a year. Can anyone explain this to me? ThanksWhat is the Air Traffic Controller Job Process?

So what do you need well your A%26amp;P license plus a lot of experience.

It's better to get a controller, but I beat the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (with Project 64 emulator) using keyboard. I had no problems with that, except if you need to move the analog stick slowly, which is not possible using a keyboard of course. But Project 64 has the option to solve that. So yes, you can play it using the keyboard.

Daily life as a three level fresh out of tech school is stressful and tough. A good percentage of people washout of the career field at Keesler; more will washout at their first base during upgrade training. As a ';tripod';, you'll be expected to keep your nose in the books or listen in on the freqs when you're not actually doing training. You'll start out training in simulations, and then live traffic with a rated controller plugged in behind you--when you make a mistake, the controller is there to correct the situation. The most common mistake is freezing up and saying nothing. Your confidence will be bashed, your ego will be annihilated. You will realize that Tech School really didn't teach you very much at all. On top of this, you are the least useful members of the facility. You and the other three-levels will be cleaning up after everyone else, taking out the trash, and doing chow runs for everyone. You are everyone's b*tch, and you'll wish you'd picked weather, intel, or base ops.
If you can make it through the training, it's all gravy. Your job is awesome. Your work environment is top shelf. You are always the smartest person in the room...at least that's what people seem to think, even though they have no idea what it is you do. Your work hours are tightly controlled (no fourteen hour days for you!), and you are guaranteed a day off every seven days--even when you deploy. You enjoy going to the Flight Doc and not having to wait all day at the hospital. At work, you tell officers what to do. How many enlisted jobs can say that?

On the civilian side, the pay has dropped dramatically since 2005, as the FAA and NATCA are in a pissing match over pay, work atmosphere, benefits, etc. There is some indication that relations have improved since Bush left, but nothing has been worked out to date. Until the FAA starts paying new hires better than $30K, i do NOT recommend a civilian FAA career. Stay in the Air Force until things get fixed, or til you can retire.

He has four sports cars that he just bought for himself haha.

If you are the type of person that works well under pressure then it may be a great job for you! You know that saying, ';you get what you pay for';... I think that probably applies here. Good money but lots of stree.
Believe me, you will be a Gate Guard. Checking license plates. No tower. Take my word for it. If not the gate, Handing out towels at the gym.

After you pass that written test with a high enough score, then you go to the police to be finger-printed for the government job.
Later, you have to take a health physical, paid for by the FAA, and you had to have an interview with the nearest Air Traffic Contoller boss at some airport.
THEN, you had to go to Texas for a few weeks training.
Then they place you at some airport...anywhere. for me it was Chatanooga, TENN. or Miami, florida.
I hated Miami, 'cause I had lived there for 5 years. And I had just bought a house in Ohio, so I didn't want to sell it and move to another city. In 1980, the salary was not fantastic, but the benefits were very good. Free flights on many airlines.

Actually, I think it is a lot easier to use on the gamecube controller rather than the Nintendo 64 controller. To me, the GC conrtoller is a lot more comfortable. I think the C-stick is easier for your weapons and using the ocarina, too. I hope that you aren't having troubles using your gamecube controller! Good to open PS3 controller to get rid of problem?
Accidentally dropped my PS3 controller one day when a phone ring made me jump. The is a little piece of the controller that is stuck and I want to get rid of it. When you shake the controller, the little piece travels from one end to another and when I play a game like NHL, the broken piece sometimes gets stuck at the R2 button and so it makes the players pass or switch to other players without me doing anything.

Is it worth the money to buy a third controller on the Wii?
O.K. I will be getting a Wii,me my 2 bros and maybe my mom will be playing it.
But is there enough games that support at least 3 players to get a third controller,because we would like to all play together but is there enough games that will allow 3 players(must be teen or under,nothing above)?Is it worth the money to buy a third controller on the Wii?

A long ago my dad brought me a MadCatz turbo controller for the nintendo 64. Right now, i'm having trouble.
The L trigger is working, but it doesn't go all the way inside. The R does go all the way like a normal one, but it doesn't work. The Stick has a LOT of bounce, it has too much that when I move down it bounces to the center so hard that the console detects it as it is moving foward (up).

Radiation is measured in curies or becquerel, not GHz. GHz is for measuring frequency.
The PS3 controller do not give off radiation. Suppose it did give off radiation, it's practically background radiation. You are more radiation exposure by getting a suntan than you would by playing the PS3 for an entire year.

I happen to have a microwave detector for ovens. Few days ago I decided to measure different devices just for curiosity. One was my PS3 (60 or 80GB old model) and I was surprised the values I got. I had no bluetooth devices present and internet connected with cable - so there should not be any microwave traffic. Well there is - and a lot!
I measured 4 mW/cm2 during turn on (boot) and around 2 mW/cm2 after that. Measurement range is around 2.4 GHz, which is used in cellphones, bluetooth, wlan etc. The weird thing is that the radiation value is almost constant. When the PS3 is on, there is always the same radiation about 2 mW/cm2 even if I don't use it (but it is on). I turned off internet etc. but nothing seems to affect to the radiation. When I connected the sony DVD remote (bluetooth) and used it, there was no difference in the radiation value!
The intensity of the radiation is about the same with my gsm cellphone (Nokia Communicator) when I call from my home. So the radiation from PS3 could achieve the closest mobile phone base stations 0,5-1km. Which is little too much if you are just watching DVD?
I am not worried about microwaves. Values I presented above are under the limits in Finland (limit might be 10mW/cm2 or something) and nobody keeps their head close to the main unit. But as an engineer I am confused about awkward engineering Sony has done. Why keep the microwave transmitter always on if there is no data to transmit. PS3 consumes a lot electricity and I guess above mentioned should be one of the reasons. Mobile phones transmits mainly then when you speak, wlan if there is data to send, why not the same way in PS3 - it should not be technical problem?
Well the question is: Is my PS3 broken or are they all like that. I could not contact sony directly so I put it here. If some one could reproduce my test it would be nice to know - all you need is a microwave oven tester device, everyone has that .
The hot spot is on top and little left from the center point of the PS3 (if you have it horizontally on the table). Metering device has to be close as possible to the surface to get values I got.
I am having H1N1 and can't go out to play football, that is why I have to do something like this.
For those who bought third party usb controllers or use Sony's own with cable in order to avoid microwaves - I can only say - sorry.

Radiation is measured in curies or becquerel, not GHz. GHz is for measuring frequency.
The PS3 controller do not give off radiation. Suppose it did give off radiation, it's practically background radiation. You are more radiation exposure by getting a suntan than you would by playing the PS3 for an entire year.

Yes it does I'm using a fanatec speedster3 steering wheel. It shows as a pc twin shock. It only works in analog mode, and I cant find any drivers for the force feedback function .

The emulator doesn't care what kind of controller you use, if it's recognized by the operating system as a game controller it should work.
