Will the Xbox 360 messenger kit work on a wired controller?

The description of the messenger keyboard in the Argos catalogue says that itll work with a wireless controller but not with a wired one. I have the MadCatz controller and was wondering if the keyboard apator will plug into this controller and work the same way?Will the Xbox 360 messenger kit work on a wired controller?
